🌸 The very essence of Japanese ceramics
Seto Ware, the birthplace of the Maneki-neko
✨ Seto Ware is a collective term for ceramics produced in and around Seto City, Aichi Prefecture. Originating in the Kamakura period, it is one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns with a 1300-year history. In 1977, Seto Ware was designated a Japanese Traditional Craft by the Japanese government, and in 2017, it was recognized as a "Japan Heritage" site. It is also renowned as the birthplace of Maneki-neko, being the earliest region to produce glazed pottery and ceramic beckoning cats. The term "Setomono" in Japanese is even synonymous with ceramics, highlighting its widespread influence and significance.
